Ayres Natural Bridge Wyoming

There photographs were all taken in the Ayres Natural Bridge Park near Douglas, Wyoming. Walking into the park feels like walking into a canyon meadow with lush trees, beautiful red rocks, and a lazy flowing river. A marker near the site states that the bridge is 20 feet high and has a 90 foot span at the base. A trout stream flows beneath. I was unable to capture the entire bridge in one picture. Facilities are free and maintained by Converse County. Pets are not allowed.

The Oregon Trail passed through this area, and it was a haven for white settlers passing through Wyoming. Legend has it that an Indian was struck by lightning and killed while atop the bridge. After that, Native Americans would not ever go near the bridge or its surroundings.
